Rose Gonsoulin – 2025 Inductee

by | Jan 6, 2026

Rose GonsoulinRose Gonsoulin is a native Houstonian who traded living with mosquitos, roaches, and humidity for the scorpions, rattlesnakes, and dust storms in Arizona.

She and her husband moved from Atlanta to Fountain Hills in 2002 and now share their home with two cats, Chloe and Lucy.

Rose is a historical fiction author and her latest novel, When the Grass Is Rising: A Portrait of Young Sam Houston, is available at the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center.

Her love of history and reading continues to inspire the stories yet to be written.

Rose has been a member of the Fountain Hills Critique Group of local writers since 2008 and is a member of the Arizona Historical Novel Society. As a volunteer for the Arizona Authors Book Festival, she interviewed the Special Guest authors. The event was held at SEEDS for Autism on April 27, 2025, and all proceeds went to support their Job Training programs.

Rose leads the New Adventures Day Trips program for Encore For More and serves as Treasurer for the organization. The New Adventures program offers seniors the opportunity to explore museums, cultural events, and nature programs in the greater Phoenix area. Beginning in 2018, they made their eighteenth trip in February to the Musical Instrument Museum for a Drum and Dance workshop.

Rose has been a member of the Community Garden since its inception and volunteers for the garden’s Food Bank program. Her favorite plants to grow are Loofah and Gourds. In addition, Rose supports local non-profits as a grant writer and spent fourteen years as a volunteer for Home Delivered Meals.
