For almost 50 years the Rio Verde Roadrunner has been the go to source for Rio Verde community news.

Today the digital version of the twice monthly newsletter is sent to over 1,700 current and past residents plus some 400 hard copies are available for pick up at the Rio Verde Post Office and Community Center.

Linda Hefter has been the volunteer editor for the past 16 years taking over the job in 2009 from Jack Hale.

A journalism graduate of the University of Wisconsin and a resident of Rio Verde for 32 years, Linda brings to the job extensive newsletter experience and a passion for building community through the sharing of information, stories and photos.

The Roadrunner receives rave reviews from residents for its in-depth coverage of community governance issues plus up to date information about a wide variety of amenities, events and services with special attention to life long learning and health & wellness opportunities.

The Roadrunner is also a source for stories and photos that help Rio Verde residents get to know their neighbors. One couple recently thanked Linda and the Roadrunner for “keeping us all connected.”

In addition to Rio Verde news the Roadrunner helps residents learn about their very special location in the Sonoran desert by publishing news about the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center and occasional articles about the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, McDowell Mountain Regional Park and Reigning Grace Ranch.
