Summer is in full swing and it is beautifully cool inside the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center! This month, we have a reason to celebrate, an exciting program lineup, and a sneak peek of our August fundraiser Cactus, Coyotes, & Cowboys. Read on for more details.
🎉Big News: New Lease Approved!
On June 30, 2026, the Fountain Hills Town Council officially passed Resolution No. 2026-18, approving a brand-new Lease Agreement for the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center!
This agreement represents a collaborative, professional path forward that respects state legal requirements while protecting a vital community asset.
This ten-month window provides the foundation we need to formalize a permanent, multi-year partnership with the Town of Fountain Hills.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our members, volunteers, and residents whose overwhelming support underscores the true value of the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center.
As we focus on the future, join us in support of our mission “to engage, entertain, educate, and inspire people about the Lower Verde Valley, the river that runs through it, and the life that water brings to the desert.”

Postcard from the Past Writing Mixer was a Success!
Thank you to all who participated in the Postcard from the Past Writing Mixer. Their postcards will be part of our 2026 Time Capsule and on display in future exhibits. Look for more programs like this coming in the fall. Reflections of the Valley: Celebrating the Original Residents of Fountain Hills begins October 3rd.
Beat the Heat: July Activities
Our Summer Hours (Wed–Sat, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM) run through August 31. Drop in and stay cool with these July highlights:
- Children’s Daily Fun: Enjoy our Summer Scavenger Hunt (with prizes!) and our “Go With the Flow” library reading program collaboration.
- Free Admission Saturday (July 25 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM): Bring the whole family to explore our galleries for free.
- Timequakes for Teens (Sat, July 25 | 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM): A unique, interactive history and environment workshop sponsored by the River of Time and Arizona State University. (Register: admin@riveroftime.center).
- Dino-Detectives (Thu, July 30 | 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM): Storytime, crafts, and a visit through the River of Time for ages 4–6. (Register: admin@riveroftime.center).
- Blue Star Museums: Free admission for active-duty military and their families through Sept 7.
Arizona State University’s Timequakes for Teens: A Participatory Workshop for Exploring Alternative Past & Possible Futures
Saturday, July 25, 2026 @ 10:00 – 11:00 AM
River of Time Museum & Exploration Center and Arizona State University present Timequakes, a program that invites teens to “play with time”—exploring how communities, technologies, and environmental systems might have developed differently, and how those possibilities can inspire action to shape desirable futures. Cactus, Coyotes & Cowboys Fundraiser
Saturday, August 15 | 6-9:00 PM
Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating the spirit, history, and heritage of the Lower Verde Valley and Fountain Hills at the Cactus, Coyotes, & Cowboys River of Time Fundraiser. This special event brings together local business leaders, community members, and supporters for a night of connection, entertainment, and giving back.
Your registration directly supports the mission of the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center, helping preserve the rich history of the Lower Verde Valley while strengthening the cultural and economic vitality of our community.
It’s not too early to buy your tickets or sponsor the event. Tickets are $75 which includes dinner and drinks, live music and dancing, western-themed fun and entertainment.
