It is with great sadness we announced the passing of the River of Time Museum and Exploration Center’s founder and namesake, L. Alan Cruikshank. Alan, who was instrumental in creating the center, died in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 30.
Alan was a great leader for our institution, supporting our efforts and building relationships throughout the community. Alan was publisher of The Fountain Hills Times from its inception until his retirement but continued to serve as president of Western States Publishers, Inc., the owner of The Times.
“We are so very proud to be a part of this great man’s legacy, and we will continue to follow his dreams of growing the River of Time into a premier Fountain Hills destination,” said Executive Director Cherie Koss.
“It has been an honor to have Mr. Cruikshank’s guidance and support from the founding of the organization in 1991, to just last week, when we met to design a new exhibit. We know that he will be an angel on our shoulder continuing to guide us.”

Alan’s family is planning a celebration of life on January 07, 2023, at the Fountain Hills Community Center.
