October Update

Make a Splash Campaign Fundraising Milestones

Our new fundraising campaign, “Make a Splash” was launched at our Cruisin’ Down the River event in August. We’re pleased to share that thanks to donations from guests we are well on our way toward our first financial milestone of $3,000.

New Water Resources Tour Planned

Once we reach this milestone, we’ll be able to launch a new docent tour that not only showcases our River of Time exhibits, but also highlights water resources and their uses in the Lower Verde River Valley.

Highlights of this tour will include how Ancient Peoples accessed water through canal systems, exploration of how water resources aided in the settling of the desert Southwest, including the reintroduction of the canal systems, the ecosystems of the Lower Verde River, how they’ve changed over time and what might change in the future. It will also include some water conservation tips and tricks, and their importance to conserving water.

New Exploration Experiences Tour in 2023

Although we’re a bit of a way from our next milestone of $10,000, we’re really looking forward to developing an Exploration Experiences tour that takes participants on a field trip to explore water sources and experience firsthand their role in providing water to desert residents.

The tour format would be similar to our Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation tours in that guests will gather at the museum for a brief tour and then be transported to a site for a behind the scenes exploration followed by a catered lunch. The focus of this tour is to explore how water is accessed and distributed in this region. The exact sites will be confirmed once we’re closer to our goal.

We’re eagerly looking ahead to our next three milestones and the culmination of this leg of our ongoing Make A Splash campaign with a community wide celebration of water for World Water Day in March when we’ve reached our $30,000 goal.

Leading up to that goal are the milestones at $18,000 with a Special Speakers Water series and at $25,000 a water themed STEAM outreach program for area schools. We’ll talk more about these special opportunities in upcoming newsletters.

We’re looking forward to growing closer to our goal of becoming a major water conservation education center and each of you can be a part of making it happen. Please won’t you join us and “Make A Splash?”
